(CIPD) is Europe’s largest HR and development professional body. As an internationally recognised brand with over 135,000 members across 120 countries, they pride themselves on supporting and developing those responsible for the management and development of people within organisations.

Their Head Office is in Wimbledon, UK and they help many of the world’s most progressive organisations build their HR and leadership capabilities.

History of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development: Approaching 100 years in business

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) are leading the global standards for best practice in HR. Their aim is to drive sustained organisation performance through HR, shaping thinking, leading practice and building HR capability.

They have over 135,000 members, including over 50,000 who are chartered, representing the most influential senior HR leaders from the world’s leading organisations and the next generation of HR professionals.

On 1 July 2000 they were granted the Royal Charter recognising their pre-eminence, stability and permanence in the profession. They became the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

The CIPD is the only HR professional institution in the world with ‘Chartered Members’. Being recognised as a Chartered Member of the CIPD means an HR professional has met the gold standards they set for the profession, representing the very best in HR.

Their membership continues to grow in significance, with representation across 120 countries, signaling the importance of professional recognition and showcasing individuals impacting change in organisations through HR.

Smith & Ouzman

Smith & Ouzman are pleased to be working with the CIPD on an exciting project looking at printing 18 different sorts of certificates broken down into 4 categories, with a view to moving towards a complete security print, personalisation and match mailing project for Qualification Certificates & Transcripts. The 4 categories are broken down as follows:

Awards

Certificates

Diplomas

Unit Certificates

We are creating two A4 generic base stock Certificates, Landscape and Portrait, which include both overt and covert security features.

The Certificates will be held in our secure vault awaiting issuing instructions, they will then be personalised and digitally printed to each of the sorts, matched with a letter, inserted into a C4 envelope and mailed direct to the member.

This is an exciting project for S&O and we are very pleased to be working with the CIPD.

Jenny Filsell

Co-incidentally, Jenny Filsell our HR and QA Officer has recently qualified as a CIPD professional in Employment Relations, Law and Practice.

Finance Director Peter Ellis says: “I am delighted to congratulate Jenny on successfully gaining her CIPD qualification. It is the culmination of 3 years hard work for her, during which time she has attended intensive courses and expertly passed many practical assessments. She now brings her training and expertise to the Company in all Human Resource matters, for the benefit of all staff.”

Last year, S&O designed and produced the One, Five, Ten and Twenty Brixton Pound notes following the success of the Lewes Pound. Last month The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were spotted handing over a £10 note at the Brixton Market during a tour.

They may have paid over the odds for a box of mangoes, and the Duchess may have been primed, but it was a good opportunity to show local currency, the Brixton Pound in use.

The currencies were part of the Transition Movement to boost trade, bring local communities together and strengthen local economies in preparation for a low carbon future.

To protect against counterfeiting and forgery, S&O designed the notes with a variety of overt and covert security devices that included watermarked paper with embedded fibres, sequential serial numbering, ultraviolet (UV) ink which fluoresces under UV light, micro-text and hologram foil.

The notes also featured local heroes and notable figureheads, which were voted by the people of Brixton.
